Dear all,
We hope this note finds you well. In the midst of all this chaos, it has been amazing to see the collective sense of community and solidarity guiding so many in our workplace.
We know this has been a difficult end to the term. In the interest of reaching out, the executive wanted to send out a bit of information to the membership as we transition from the end of term grading into the spring and summer.
Bargaining
We are still in bargaining, and while the progress has slowed since the closure of the College, we continue to meet through online conference calls. We hope to have some news in the coming months about the progress of bargaining.
CAUT
The Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) has been sending out quite a bit of information with regards to this unprecedented change to our work. We’re including some of that information here. For general information, CAUT has created this Question and Answer tab for academic faculty. As always, please feel free to contact your St. Thomas More Faculty Union executive if you have any further questions.
STM Faculty Union Elections and the AGM
The St. Thomas More Faculty Union still has positions available on the executive. As stated in Chris Hrynkow’s last email, nominations will remain open until April 14th. Please consider joining the union executive for the next academic year!
We’ve had to postpone the AGM this year. We’re hoping to reschedule as soon as we’re able to get back to work. Let us know if you have further questions.
Leave no one behind – support Saskatchewan’s most vulnerable people during COVID-19
Finally, we know that COVID-19 been particularly difficult for the most vulnerable people in our society. Recently a group of Saskatoon/Treaty 6-based activists have created a petition calling on the provincial government to take immediate action to protect the least advantaged in our society. We encourage you to check it out and sign.
Wishing you all good health as we continue to engage in physical distancing. Be kind. Wash your hands. And stay safe.
In solidarity, your STMFU Executive
